A disabled dump truck leaking cement and fuel blocked northbound Interstate 15 at 90th South in Sandy on Monday, Aug. 10, backing up traffic for miles before the freeway reopened that afternoon.

The Utah Department of Transportation first reported the incident at 11:43 a.m. UDOT Traffic posted on X that the truck was on the right shoulder of northbound I-15 at the SR-209 interchange, with an estimated clearance time of 12:45 p.m.

But the blockage outlasted that estimate. An hour after the initial report, northbound traffic remained at a standstill with cleanup still underway, according to Gephardt Daily.

UDOT traffic camera images showed bumper-to-bumper congestion stretching south to at least 10600 South, roughly 1.5 miles from the crash site. A scene photo from UDOT cameras showed responders in high-visibility vests, a damaged white car, a fire truck and debris spread across multiple lanes.

No injuries were reported. No agency has confirmed what disabled the truck.

The freeway was reopened by mid-afternoon Monday, according to an updated headline on the Gephardt Daily report.
