Incoming ninth-graders will get their first look at Jordan High School on Friday, Aug. 14, when the school hosts its annual Freshman Orientation Day from 8 a.m. to noon.

The half-day event at 95 Beetdigger Blvd. is open to all new Beetdiggers, according to an announcement posted on the school's website on Aug. 9. The orientation gives incoming students a morning to explore campus before classes begin the following week.

Canyons School District classes for grades 1–12 begin Monday, Aug. 17, according to KUTV. Kindergarten starts Wednesday, Aug. 19.

As we reported Aug. 5, new Canyons teachers have already been prepping Sandy classrooms for the start of the school year.

Families needing more details about orientation activities can call the Jordan High front office at 801-826-6200 during office hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A busy week at America First Field

Sandy's soccer stadium stays packed this week. Real Salt Lake hosts FC Juárez in a must-win Leagues Cup match Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. on Apple TV. RSL enters after a dominant 4-0 win over Atlante FC on Saturday, Aug. 8, in front of 19,510 fans.

"You've just established a standard. … The tough part is we've gotta raise the bar," head coach Pablo Mastroeni told reporters after the Aug. 8 win.

The Utah Royals follow on Friday, Aug. 14, hosting Bay FC at 8 p.m. (KMYU), and RSL returns Saturday, Aug. 15, against Minnesota United at 7:30 p.m. on Apple TV. Three matches in five days.

Pinkbox Doughnuts grand opening Saturday

Pinkbox Doughnuts cuts the ribbon on its Sandy location at 10235 State Street on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. The shop features the first-ever "Pinkycade," an in-store arcade exclusive to the Sandy store, according to the company's website.
