Sandy families can belt out "This Is Me" under the stars on Monday, Aug. 24, when Sandy City screens The Greatest Showman sing-along at the Sandy Amphitheater, 9400 S. 1300 E.

The event is free. No tickets are required.

Pre-movie activities kick off at 7 p.m., with the film starting at dusk. The sing-along format means on-screen lyrics appear so the audience can follow along to the 2017 musical's soundtrack, which stars Hugh Jackman as circus impresario P.T. Barnum.

Sandy City bills the screening as the next best thing to a night at the circus. The city and the Sandy Arts Guild present the free Movies in the Park series, according to the Sandy Journal's event listing.

What to bring

Attendees can bring lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas, coolers (no loose ice), factory-sealed food and beverages, refillable water bottles and small cameras. Concessions are also available for purchase on-site, including snacks, hot dogs, wraps, sodas and water.

Parking

Two free lots serve the amphitheater: the west lot, closest to the box office, and the east lot, next to the Sandy Senior Center. Arriving early is recommended. For questions, call 801-568-2900.

• Thursday, Aug. 20: Lee Brice with Lewis Brice at the Sandy Amphitheater, 7 p.m. (ticketed).
• Monday, Aug. 24: Fall Coach Pitch league games begin at Falcon Park (1st–2nd graders). Fall T-Ball (Pre-K and Kindergarten) starts Tuesday, Aug. 25, 5–6 p.m., also at Falcon Park. Six games, a shirt and a hat are included.
• Friday, Aug. 28: Thurl Bailey's JamFest contests (3-Point Contest, Dunk Contest, 1v1 King of the Court), 6–8 p.m. at Sandy Promenade, 10011 Centennial Pkwy. Entry is $20 per contest.
• Saturday, Aug. 29: JamFest 3v3 Streetball Tournament at Sandy Promenade. Youth divisions 8U–18U and adult divisions. Team registration (3–5 players) is $165.
