Sandy Mayor Monica Zoltanski posted a tribute to Dolly Parton on Facebook on Tuesday, Aug. 25, after the country music icon died at age 80.

"She will always be remembered for her authenticity, humor, and larger than life style… such great characteristics even transcended her fabulous musical talents," Zoltanski wrote, calling Parton "the Queen of Country," as reported by ABC4.

Zoltanski noted Parton's influence extended across music, film, philanthropy, reading advocacy, television, books and amusement parks.

Parton died after a brief battle with cancer at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones, according to a statement from her team.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox praised Parton's literacy work on social media, writing, "No one has done more for literacy in this country than Dolly." U.S. Sen. Mike Lee also posted a tribute on X.
