Sandy families can get their first look at the 2026 Jordan High football team Friday, Aug. 7, when the Beetdiggers hold their annual Maroon and Gray Game at 95 E Beetdigger Blvd.
The intra-squad scrimmage is free and open to the public. It falls 10 days before Canyons School District classes begin Aug. 17, as we reported July 29, making it one of the first back-to-school events on the calendar.
Third season for Albertson
Head coach Marc Albertson enters his third year leading the program after compiling a 5-15 record in his first two seasons. In the Deseret News' Region 10 preview published Aug. 1, Albertson said the team expects "more buy-in than we have had" and called the roster "experienced at all positions this year."
The Beetdiggers return four starters on offense and seven on defense. Senior Sterling Ostler and senior receiver Landon Tibbetts headline the skill positions, while senior center Zach Parker and junior tackle Eli Kennar anchor the offensive line. On defense, Ostler, Titan Schaugaard, Thomas Howard, Kennar, Trae Ewing, Sam Dean and Mason Dayton are all back.
Region 10 coaches picked Jordan sixth out of seven teams in the preseason poll, behind Skyline, Highland, Murray, East and Juan Diego.
