Real Salt Lake shut out FC Juárez 3-0 Tuesday night at America First Field, completing the Leagues Cup group stage unbeaten and clinching a quarterfinal berth in the MLS-Liga MX summer tournament.

Goals from Morgan Guilavogui, Sergi Solans and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos gave 14,099 fans in Sandy a dominant finish to an eight-day homestand in which RSL outscored three Liga MX opponents 8-1. The club entered the tournament ranked 30th of 36 participants based on 2025 results.

"The biggest positive to me was the way we defended," head coach Pablo Mastroeni told reporters after Tuesday's match, as reported by KSL Sports. "The mentality of this group defensively, there's been a click, a change in these last two games, and that's been the biggest takeaway."

Guilavogui opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 29th minute after FC Juárez defender Jesús Murillo was whistled for a handball in the box. The French-born designated player sent the ball into the top right corner past goalkeeper Sebastián Jurado.

Striker Sergi Solans doubled the lead eight minutes into the second half. The 53rd-minute goal, his third in four August matches and 11th across all competitions this season, came after he received a pass from Noel Caliskan, spun past his defender and chipped the ball over Jurado.

The night belonged to Lineker Rodrigues.

Signed Monday, Aug. 10, from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Real Monarchs, Rodrigues sealed the result in the 68th minute with his first-ever MLS goal, a left-footed finish off assists from DeAndre Yedlin and Caliskan. Leagues Cup named him Man of the Match after he led the team with two shots on goal.

RSL's defense was equally impressive. Goalkeeper Rafael Cabral recorded back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since July 2025, making two saves in his 60th consecutive start. The back line limited Juárez to just one shot on target out of 13 attempts and only 16 touches in RSL's penalty area.

Juárez had a chance to spoil the shutout when Colombian striker Óscar Estupiñán earned a 75th-minute penalty, but he sent the spot kick over the crossbar.

RSL finished Phase One with a 2-0-1 record and seven points, good for second on the MLS side of the bracket. The club's goal differential of plus-7, with goals from six different scorers and 19 different starters across the three matches, officially secured the quarterfinal spot on Wednesday, Aug. 12, after FC Dallas lost at Toluca and LAFC drew Querétaro.

As we reported Aug. 9, RSL's 4-0 rout of Atlante on Saturday set up the group-stage finale with momentum. The Juárez result confirmed the payoff.

RSL returns to MLS regular-season play Saturday, Aug. 15, when Minnesota United visits America First Field at 7:30 p.m. MT. The Leagues Cup quarterfinal is scheduled for Aug. 25 or 26, with the opponent and site still to be determined.
