Solstice Senior Living at Sandy opens its doors to the public Thursday, Oct. 8, for an Oktoberfest celebration featuring German food, beer and music.
The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at the independent living community, 310 E. 10600 South. Solstice said all donations and raffle proceeds will benefit a local charity, though the specific organization has not been named.
The community described the gathering as a biergarten-style afternoon where neighbors can meet residents and staff over traditional fare and German music, according to the Sandy Journal's community calendar.
A happy hour spread includes giant pretzels with beer cheese dip, currywurst, Kartoffelpuffer (crispy potato pancakes with applesauce) and Zwiebelkuchen (savory onion pie with bacon). Dinner entrées feature Jägerschnitzel (breaded pork cutlet with mushroom gravy), Sauerbraten (marinated pot roast with gravy and red cabbage) and Rinderroulade (beef rolled with bacon, onions, pickles and mustard, then slow-braised). Sides include braised red cabbage and German potato salad with bacon, onions and mustard vinaigrette.
German-style beers and non-alcoholic beverages round out the drink list.
The RSVP deadline listed on Solstice's event page was Monday, Oct. 5. Residents still interested can call 385-492-5889 or visit SolsticeSeniorLivingSandy.com/signature-event.
