Sandy-based Real Salt Lake's Zavier Gozo stepped onto the pitch at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Wednesday, July 29, as the youngest All-Star in club history, logging 27 minutes off the bench in MLS's 4-3 victory over Liga MX.

Gozo, 19, entered in the 63rd minute wearing No. 72, slotting in on the left wing and flying up and down the touchline in front of 35,197 fans. He became the 13th RSL player ever selected for the showcase and, at 19 years, 4 months and 2 days old, the youngest to represent the club in an All-Star Game, according to RSL.

"It was so much fun, especially to play with the best players in the world," Gozo said after the match. "They told me to keep going, keep fighting, keep smiling and playing the way I have been playing. They've been very encouraging."

The "they" included Son Heung-min, Thomas Müller and Carles Gil. Son, who plays for LAFC, scored twice in the first half and earned MVP honors.

Gozo is the first Utah native ever named to an MLS All-Star First XI and only the third RSL Academy homegrown product to earn the honor, joining Justen Glad and Aaron Herrera. Born in West Valley City and raised in Eagle Mountain, he signed a professional contract with Real Monarchs at 15 and has spent the 2026 season proving the investment right. He entered the All-Star break with six goals and five assists in 1,237 minutes, tied with rookie Sergi Solans atop RSL's scoring chart.

Head coach Pablo Mastroeni called Gozo "a unicorn" in a June 5 KSL Sports feature, saying he is "world-class" and comparing his potential to the Premier League level.

The breakout numbers back up the praise. Gozo became the youngest brace scorer in RSL history on May 13 with two goals in a 3-0 home win over Houston Dynamo. His five game-winning goals or assists before the break were the second-most by a teenager in a single MLS season, three shy of Diego Fagundez's 2013 record of eight with New England.

RSL teammate JuanMa Sanabria, who leads the club in assists but was not selected as an All-Star, said in a July 13 KSL Sports interview that he was "especially happy" for Gozo and excited to watch him represent the club.

Now the focus shifts back to Sandy. RSL visits St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, August 1, at 6:30 p.m. MT on Apple TV, then opens its 2026 Leagues Cup campaign at home against Liga MX power Tigres UANL on Tuesday, August 4, at 8 p.m. MT at America First Field. The club also hosts Atlante FC on Saturday, August 8, and FC Juárez on Tuesday, August 11. RSL carries a 13-game sellout streak into that home stretch.
