Hillcrest's K'Von Houston threw four touchdown passes Thursday, Oct. 8, as the Huskies routed Taylorsville 49-0 and triggered the 44-point mercy rule in Region 4.

The win pushed Hillcrest to 7-2 overall. It marked the second straight shutout for head coach Robert Kaelin's squad, which beat Cyprus 53-0 on Oct. 2. The Huskies have outscored their last two opponents 102-0.

Taft Ashby scored on both sides of the ball, recovering a blocked kick for a first-quarter touchdown and adding a fumble recovery for a score in the second quarter. Houston connected with Tyler Ashby for two of his four touchdown passes as Hillcrest overwhelmed the Warriors (1-8).

Houston entered the game averaging 3.3 passing touchdowns per contest over eight games, fifth in the state according to the Deseret News.

Alta rallies past Viewmont 37-20

Alta fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter, then scored 20 unanswered points in the second to seize control of a Region 6 matchup against Viewmont.

The Hawks led 34-20 after three quarters and held Viewmont to a field goal in the fourth to close out the 37-20 victory. Alta improved to 6-3 overall. Viewmont dropped to 3-6.

The result was a rebound for head coach Blake Burdette's team after a 29-28 loss to Bountiful on Oct. 2, when the Redhawks converted a two-point try with 44 seconds left. That defeat knocked the Hawks out of the KSL Sports Top 25, where they had been ranked No. 21.

After the Hawks' Region 6 opening win over Olympus on Sept. 18, Burdette told the Cottonwood Heights-Holladay Times the victory provided momentum heading into the rest of region play. Alta has now won three of four region games since.
