The Jordan Beetdiggers girls soccer team opens the 2026 Class 4A season the week of Tuesday, Aug. 4, carrying a 15-5 record from fall 2025 and two senior anchors who helped engineer the program's biggest turnaround in recent memory.
Senior midfielder Emberly Camacho and senior defender Mekensy Habel headline the returning roster for head coach Justin Jahnke, now in his fifth year at Jordan. The Beetdiggers jumped from 10-8 overall and 6-6 in Region 10 in 2024 to 15-5 and 10-4 in region in 2025, a five-win improvement that earned them a tie for second place in the region standings.
Jahnke said the team is eager to build on that momentum, telling the Deseret News in its July 31 preseason capsule that the squad is ready for the challenge ahead.
Camacho has started since her freshman year and earned second-team All-Region honors in 2024. In an October 2025 interview with the Sandy Journal, Jahnke called her "a silent worker" who "matches that work ethic with an immense talent." She also plays club soccer for Sparta 2010 Premier.
Joining the returners are senior midfielder Mia Tiznado and sophomore goalkeeper Amelia Timothy, both listed as key newcomers in the Deseret News capsule. Timothy's arrival is notable: the Beetdiggers appear to be replacing their 2025 starting goalkeeper.
Region 10 landscape
Jordan is listed fourth in Region 10 in the Deseret News preseason capsule, behind Park City, East, and Judge Memorial. Park City dominated the region in 2025 with a perfect 14-0 mark and returns four senior contributors. East matched Jordan's 15-5 overall record and posted the best defense in all of 4A at 0.8 goals allowed per game.
The Beetdiggers' 2025 postseason ended with a 1-0 loss to Park City in the second round. That came after a 4-0 first-round win over Tooele. Park City went on to reach the 4A semifinals before falling to Ridgeline 5-3.

Statewide contenders
The 4A title race runs through two programs. Defending champion Snow Canyon went 18-2 in 2025 and won the championship in penalty kicks, 5-4, after a 3-3 draw with Ridgeline at America First Field in Sandy on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025. Snow Canyon returns three contributors, including senior midfielder Eleanor Armour.
Ridgeline finished 2025 as the No. 1 RPI team in 4A at 17-4 and brings back seven contributors, headlined by junior striker Lily Hunsaker and senior midfielder Reagan Brown.
What to watch
Jordan averaged 3.0 goals per game in 2025 (No. 8 in 4A) and allowed 1.2 per game (No. 11). Closing the defensive gap against the region's top teams will determine whether the Beetdiggers can push past the second round in fall 2026.
Jahnke has spoken about the bond among his senior class, telling the Sandy Journal in October 2025 that he has coached the group since they were freshmen and that they've stayed together all four years. He praised their ability to balance fun with focus when it matters.
The 4A season begins the week of Tuesday, Aug. 4. Jordan's specific schedule, including its first opponent, has not been released.
