Sandy families with preschoolers have one more shot at a half-day summer camp before the school year begins. Sandy City Parks & Recreation's MVP Minis Camp returns for its final 2026 session Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, at the Parks & Recreation Building, 440 E. 8680 South.

The camp runs 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day and costs $100 for the week, according to the Sandy City website. It's open to children ages 3 to 5.

Activities include games and arts and crafts. An earlier session ran July 6–10 at the same location and price, making the August week the last chance for families who missed the first round.

It costs $100 for all five days.

To register, families can visit altacanyonsportscenter.activityreg.com or call Sandy City Parks & Recreation at 801-568-4600.

More end-of-summer programs

MVP Minis isn't the only option for Sandy kids as summer winds down. The city's Parks & Recreation department is running several other programs through early August:

  • Energy & Confidence Camp (ages 6–12): Tuesdays and Fridays through Friday, August 7, at Bicentennial Park Pavilion. Cost ranges from $20 to $80.
  • Spock's Skate Camp (ages 6–14): Fridays through Friday, August 7. Cost is $135.
  • Youth Tennis Lessons: Beginner and intermediate sessions at Falcon Park through Thursday, August 6.

All programs are run through Sandy City Parks & Recreation. Details and registration are available at 801-568-4600.

What's ahead

Sandy City broke ground in December 2025 on a new $23.5 million Sandy Community and Recreation Center at 9565 S. Highland Drive, with completion expected by January 2027. Until then, programs like MVP Minis Camp continue to operate out of the current Parks & Recreation Building on 8680 South.
