A man was arrested on a felony kidnapping charge Wednesday, July 29, after a multi-agency response to a domestic violence call in West Jordan ended with a high-risk vehicle stop in Sandy.
West Jordan Police received a call at approximately 9:01 p.m. reporting a domestic violence incident involving two adults inside a moving vehicle near 7800 South and Redwood Road, according to ABC4. Multiple agencies responded, including a Utah Highway Patrol helicopter that tracked the vehicle as it moved from West Jordan into Sandy.
Officers from multiple jurisdictions followed the vehicle before conducting what West Jordan PD described as a high-risk stop in the Sandy area. Christopher Reyes with West Jordan PD told ABC4 that "after following the suspect vehicle from West Jordan to the Sandy area, officers conducted a 'high risk stop' on the vehicle and likely approached with guns drawn."
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on a felony kidnapping charge, a second-degree felony in Utah.
Neither the suspect nor the victim has been publicly identified. West Jordan Police confirmed the two adults are believed to have known each other, consistent with the domestic violence call.
The exact location of the stop within Sandy has not been released, and Sandy Police have not independently confirmed details of the incident. No court date or arraignment has been announced as of Thursday, July 30.
