Fans lined up at Overtime Cards on South State Street on Wednesday, July 22, to pay $25 a signature and get face time with Zach Wilson, the Draper-raised quarterback who played at BYU before being drafted No. 2 overall by the New York Jets in 2021.

The two-hour ticketed event, held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the shop's Sandy location at 10673 S. State St., let customers bring unlimited memorabilia from Wilson's stints with BYU, the Jets, the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins.

Wilson, who signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the New Orleans Saints in March, honored the appearance even though his wife, Nicolette Dellanno, had given birth to their daughter earlier that same day. The baby, Francesca Belle Wilson, arrived at 33 weeks at a hospital near BYU in Provo.

"My wife wasn't feeling well yesterday, so we went to just get a little checkup, and then she was progressing and the doctors were like, 'the baby is ready to come now,'" Wilson told the Deseret News at the signing before rushing back to the hospital. "Baby girl, 33 weeks, born right across the street from BYU."

The event is part of a busy slate of paid athlete appearances at Overtime Cards, which has operated in Utah since 1996 and bills itself as the state's premier trading card shop. The store's online calendar shows multiple sold-out signings so far in 2026, including Utah Mammoth players Lawson Crouse on Saturday, March 21, and Karel Vejmelka scheduled for Saturday, September 13, as well as NHL player JJ Peterka on Friday, April 10.

For a shop that also hosts trade nights, kids camps and a "Rip Desk" for opening sealed product, the ticketed signings represent a revenue stream that brings collectors from across the Wasatch Front, according to the Deseret News. Wilson's appearance marked one of his few public events since leaving the Jets after the 2023 season.

Wilson, who turns 27 on Monday, August 3, is competing for the No. 2 quarterback spot in New Orleans behind starter Tyler Shough. He was scheduled to report to Saints training camp on Thursday, July 23, the day after the Sandy signing.

Overtime Cards' next scheduled event at the Sandy store is Sweet Trades on Saturday, August 22, a free card-trading gathering with donuts and giveaways running from 10 a.m. to noon. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
