Real Salt Lake's winless streak reached 10 matches Wednesday, Sept. 9, after a 2-1 loss to Houston Dynamo FC at Shell Energy Stadium.

RSL (8-10-5, 29 points) has not won in MLS play since May 16. The road losing skid is even longer, stretching back to March 7 in Atlanta.

Houston's Guilherme Augusto opened the scoring in the 57th minute with a left-footed shot inside the far post for his 13th goal of the season. RSL answered in the 76th minute when Saba Lobjanidze connected with fellow substitute Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos on a counterattack to equalize. It was Lobjanidze's second goal in consecutive matches after he scored in RSL's 2-2 draw with LAFC on Sunday, Sept. 6.

The equalizer didn't hold. Houston's Mateusz Bogusz buried the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute, assisted by Augusto, to seal the result. Houston (13-7-4, 43 points) snapped its own three-match winless run and sits second in the Western Conference.

RSL manager Pablo Mastroeni had 13 players on the unavailable list, forcing five lineup changes from the weekend. Long-term injuries sidelined Ariath Piol (Achilles), Emeka Eneli (knee), Justen Glad (adductor) and Zach Booth (hamstring), among others. Newly signed striker Jason Shokalook and midfielder Colin Guske, an Orlando City SC academy product on loan, each made their first starts. Starting center back Lukas Engel was replaced at halftime by Philip Quinton.

"Coming in with a bunch of players out really tested our resolve … On another night, I think we get a point, maybe take three if we're clinical in front of goal," Mastroeni said after the match.

Nineteen-year-old Owen Anderson came off the bench to make his first-team debut. The Real Monarchs midfielder and RSL homegrown from California became the 13th player to debut for Salt Lake this season and the 242nd all-time to represent the club, according to KSL Sports.

Dos Santos' assist on the equalizer added a homecoming storyline. The Brazilian-born forward grew up in Houston and played for the Dynamo academy before RSL selected him in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft after a collegiate career at Marshall University.

Lobjanidze, RSL's first summer transfer window addition from Atlanta United FC in July, has provided a spark since arriving. After the LAFC draw on Sunday, Sept. 6, he told KSL Sports, "I can't say I'm happy with the one point, but I can say I'm happy with the performance we did."

Houston controlled possession early, out-shooting RSL 6-2 in the first half with the only three shots on target before the break. RSL finished the match trailing 12-9 in total shots and 6-4 in shots on goal.
