Sandy's annual Heritage Festival returns to Main Street Park on Saturday, Sept. 19. The free event brings a horse parade, live music, food and family activities to the Historic Sandy district.

The horse parade steps off at 10 a.m., winding through the streets of Sandy's historic neighborhoods before the festival opens at 10:30 a.m., according to Sandy City's event page. The festival runs until 2 p.m.

Once the parade wraps, the park fills with activities for all ages. Kids can hop on free bounce houses, get their faces painted, take pony rides and visit a snuggle zoo. A classic car show, food vendors and live music round out the afternoon, according to the Sandy Journal event listing.

Admission is free.

Council Member Alison Stroud previewed the festival during a Sandy City Council meeting on July 14, providing an update from the Historic Committee and noting the September celebration was on the way. The festival is an annual Sandy City tradition rooted in the Historic Sandy district. In 2023, the celebration included a time capsule burial and the unveiling of a new city flag, though neither is listed among this year's activities.

The South Valley Chamber of Commerce also lists the event with the same schedule and activity lineup.
