Sandy families looking to squeeze in one more adventure before the school year starts have a final shot: Sandy City Parks & Recreation's Kids Camp runs Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, at Bicentennial Park.
The weeklong camp is open to children in grades K through 5 and costs $150. Sessions run 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. daily at the park, located at 530 E 8680 S.
Programming includes games, team challenges, crafts, and two field trips during the week, according to the Sandy Journal events calendar. Sandy Parks & Recreation promoted the camp as packed with activities and nonstop fun. The specific field trip destinations have not been announced.
Camp runs mornings only.
Bicentennial Park offers soccer fields, outdoor basketball courts, a skate park, pickleball courts, and a pavilion with restrooms, giving campers plenty of room to spread out between activities.
The timing lines up with the end of summer break. Canyons School District's first day of school for grades 1–12 is Monday, August 17, and kindergarten classes begin Wednesday, August 19. The district's online back-to-school registration also opens Monday, August 3, at 8:30 a.m., the same morning camp kicks off.
