The Stray Cats will make their only Utah stop at Sandy Amphitheater on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m., bringing the rockabilly trio's comeback tour to the city-owned outdoor venue at 9400 S. 1300 East.

The show is part of the band's 2026 U.S. tour, which launched July 24 in Las Vegas, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. The tour follows the cancellation of their 2025 fall dates after frontman Brian Setzer reported health issues, including an autoimmune disease that affected his hands. In a July 13 press release announcing the tour extension, Setzer said, "It's good to be healthy and strong again. There's something about the unique sound of the Stray Cats that keeps drawing me in."
Setzer, upright bassist Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom released two new songs in late 2025, "Stampede" and "Teenage Heaven," their first new material since 2019. The trio is best known for the 1982 platinum album Built for Speed, which featured "Rock This Town" and "Stray Cat Strut."
What Sandy residents need to know
Sandy Amphitheater has two free parking lots: one west of the venue off 9400 South and one east off 1300 East, with ADA spaces in both. The Sandy Journal's season preview notes that parking is limited, so arriving early is recommended.
The box office opens one hour before doors and accepts card or exact cash only. Attendees can bring factory-sealed food and beverages, blankets, coolers (checked at entry), and low-back lawn chairs no higher than 12 inches from ground to seat for general admission lawn tickets. Outside alcohol is not permitted; alcohol is available for purchase inside. Children age 2 and under get in free unless a chair is required.
A busy August ahead
The Stray Cats show kicks off a stacked month at the amphitheater. According to Deseret News' summer concert roundup, the venue's August lineup includes Direct from Sweden: The Music of ABBA (Aug. 7–8), Scotty McCreery (Aug. 13), NEEDTOBREATHE (Aug. 15–16), ZZ Top with Cheap Trick (Aug. 18), Lee Brice (Aug. 20) and O.A.R. with Gavin DeGraw and Lisa Loeb (Aug. 21).
The amphitheater, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024, opened its 2026 season on May 18 with a free Jazz in the Park event. Community Arts Director Mearle Marsh presented the venue's tentative fiscal year 2026–27 budget to the Sandy City Council in May, reflecting its role as a city-funded cultural institution. The venue also hosts weekly Food Truck Nights every Monday from 5–8 p.m. through mid-October.
