A rockslide shut down stretches of Interstate 215 and Interstate 80 near Parleys Canyon on Sunday evening, Nov. 1, sending debris across multiple lanes in Millcreek.

Officials said they believed the roads would remain closed overnight as rocks continued to fall from the mountainside, according to FOX 13. No injuries were reported.

Westbound I-80 and northbound I-215 were both closed near the interchange. ABC4 reported that exit ramps from I-215 northbound and southbound were also shut down. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) initially estimated clearance by 9:12 p.m., but access remained closed past that time, according to ABC4.

KSL 5 TV said on X that all lanes of I-215 near the I-80 exit were closed as crews worked to clear debris. The station credited a photo to UDOT.

SLCScanner, a Salt Lake City scanner-monitoring account on X, reported the rockslide hit the I-215 East northbound ramp to I-80 eastbound around 8 p.m. The account reported that at least one vehicle struck a rock. The vehicle was damaged, but the driver was not injured, according to the post. SLCScanner said the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) and Unified Fire Authority (UFA) were on scene with incident management clearing debris, and that rock debris was in both eastbound and westbound lanes.

FOX 13 reporter Ryan Marion reported that officials confirmed the closures and expected them to last overnight.

ABC4 labeled the situation a developing story and was still updating its coverage as of Sunday night.
